Two juveniles were injured, one seriously, in a shooting on Rocky Butte in the Madison South neighborhood.

On Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 2:52a.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 3100 block of Northeast Rocky Butte Lane. When they arrived they located a 14-year-old victim with serious injuries. He was transported to the hospital. After treatment, his injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. A 12-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet. She was treated at the scene.

The suspect or suspects fled and no immediate arrests were made. No suspect information is being released at this time.

The Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) responded to the scene and is investigating. They determined that the victims were in a vehicle with three other juveniles aged 12-to-14 years of age. Evidence at the scene indicates at least 38 rounds were fired, and at least 11 of them struck the occupied vehicle. Some of the rounds also hit two occupied homes and one parked, unoccupied vehicle. No other injuries were reported.
