1. Tualatin Hills Nature Park
Tualatin Hills Nature Park offers both recreation areas and 5 miles of hiking trails, some of which are paved and ADA accessible. The park is a wildlife reserve on 222 acres, which means you’ll have to leave your pets at home to enjoy this area of forests, wetlands and streams. Visit the Tualatin Hills Nature Center to see some exhibits and ask the staff what kind of wildlife you might expect to see!
2. Cooper Mountain Nature Park
Cooper Mountain Nature Park is another local wildlife reserve where pets aren’t allowed, which makes it a great place to observe animals in their natural habitat! The park overlooks the Tualatin River Valley and has spectacular views of the Chehalem mountains. 3. Whispering Woods Natural Area
Whispering Woods Natural Area is in the Five Oaks/Triple Creek neighborhood. On 19 acres of woods, this site has picnic tables and a trail that can be accessed by foot and bicycle, and dogs are welcome!
4. Lowami Hart Woods Natural Area
Lowami Hart Woods Natural Area is a great option for those who are fond of walking, and perhaps even bird watching! Located on SW Hard Rd, this nature area has several trails to choose from that take you through forest and wetlands.
5. Hyland Woods Natural Area
Hyland Woods Natural Area is in the South Beaverton/Highland neighborhoods. This 30 acre forested park includes a nature play area, making this a great spot to bring the kids for an afternoon in the woods!
