On Thursday afternoon, a road rage incident was reported in the Cedar Hills neighborhood, near SW 124th and SW Fairfield Street.

Witnesses said that, Anthony Allen, the driver of a white Subaru Outback, exited his vehicle and began yelling at the driver and passengers of a dodge caravan. Then, Allen pulled out a BB gun and fired multiple rounds at the other vehicle. Nobody was injured.

Residents in the community contacted 911 and Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) deputies were dispatched to the scene.

After firing the BB gun rounds, Allen fled at a high speed. Washington County’s 911 dispatch received numerous calls of an erratic driver in a white Subaru in the area. This is likely the point that a driver caught Allen on their dash cam running the red light at Cedar Hills and Walker road.

In the video, Allen can be seen running the red light at Cedar Hills and Walker, headed northbound, presumably towards the Commonwealth Lake neighborhood, where authorities received reports of Allen’s vehicle speeding through the neighborhood.

The Witnesses:

After cruising through the Commonwelath Lake neighborhood, Allen apparently made his way back to the intersection of Cedar Hills and Walker.

A witness who almost collided with Allen’s vehicle near the intersection of Cedar Hills and Walker, said, “dude nearly side swiped me… dude flew by the already backed up traffic by the plaid pantry and pot shop, but got stuck behind the cars at the light, I wanted to catch a look at the asshole who nearly hit me when I saw his car was smoking like a mother fucker and it was coming from the engine.”

According to multiple witnesses, the incident ended at the 76 gas station on the corner of Walker and Cedar Hills.

“I pull into the 76 and see a cop turn from Cedar on to Walker and immediately jump out with his gun and then it was a full on parade of cops coming from literally every direction.”

We compiled data from WCSO and witnesses in order to create the map below, which illustrates the route that Allen likely took before being apprehended:

The incident sounded like “mass chaos,” according to someone who was listening to police scanners at the time of the incident.

Another witness who was at Shake Shack during the incident said they witnessed Allen’s car getting placed into a flat bed tow truck. The witness described Allen as an “average looking white guy.”

“He had bushy hair and was wearing an army-green jacket. He was compliant.”

According to the witness, the police searched Allen’s car and “took out something that was odd” before putting everything else back.

It’s likely that police were confiscating the BB gun that was reportedly used during the earlier road rage incident.

Allen was arrested by deputies at the 76 gas station, and was charged with multiple counts related to his crimes. Allen is now lodged at the Washington County Jail.

According to Beaverton Police statistics, aggravated assault cases in Beaverton increased by 38% between 2019 and 2020, while crime in general increased by 3.6%.

One resident who learned about the shooting and road rage incident said, “[Portland] is creeping into our small town. It’s sad.”
