A wildfire, called the Priceboro fire, has caused a Level 3 (go now) evacuation as people and homes are threatened approximately eight miles northeast of Eugene outside of Harrisburg and started sometime around 4 p.m. today. Firefighters from multiple agencies are on scene or enroute to the fire. In addition, seven firefighting aircraft under contract for the Oregon Department of Forestry are also working on the fire. The fire is estimated at 100 acres and growing.

Residents in that area are urged to follow the orders of the Linn County Sheriff’s office and evacuate if asked. The current hot, dry conditions can make wildfires unpredictable and hard to control.  People are asked to avoid travelling on area roads to allow for emergency responders and equipment to reach the fire.

The fire is visible from I-5 but currently the major north-south highway is open. Those in the area should be aware of the wildfire and check road information before traveling at www.tripcheck.com.

Local fire departments, Oregon Department of Forestry and the Oregon State Fire Marshall firefighters are responding to the fire.
