Two Portland Police Bureau officers and a civilian driver were transported to the hospital following a crash on I-205.

On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at approximately 11:18 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to a crash on I-205 near Southeast Market Street. Responding officers located a crash scene involving a PPB vehicle and a civilian vehicle. The initial investigation suggests that a PPB vehicle was blocking a lane of the interstate for a tow truck to hook up a vehicle when a second vehicle collided with the PPB vehicle. Two PPB officers in that vehicle, along with the driver who ran into them, were transported to local hospitals.

The Portland Police Bureau reported that the two officers who were injured in a crash Tuesday night will be okay. They were treated at a local hospital and released.

The driver who hit the officers was also treated at a local hospital and released. The driver is identified as Brent W. Bussell, 48, of Happy Valley. Bussell was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center for DUII and Reckless Driving as investigators believe impairment was a factor in the crash.
