On Thursday, February 3, 2022, at approximately 6:40am, a Portland Police Officer in uniform who was driving his police motorcycle was struck by a vehicle on South Harbor Drive, just under the Marquam Bridge. The officer, a 5-year veteran of the Portland Police Bureau who had previous experience before joining PPB, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

The driver of the vehicle, 36-year-old Barrett Noggle Jr., was arrested at the scene after it was determined he was impaired. Noggle was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII), Reckless Driving, and Assault in the Fourth Degree. 

The injured officer was released from the hospital and is very sore, but recovering.
