On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at 12:14 a.m., officers from the Gresham Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Southeast 159th Avenue and Southeast Division Street. The vehicle did not stop for police and eluded them. Minutes later, Gresham Police found the car crashed near the intersection of Southeast 139th Avenue and Southeast Division Street. Officers from the East Precinct responded to assist.

Officers arrived to find the vehicle crashed into another vehicle and a utility pole, which cut power to area residents. Officers found two male occupants of the eluding vehicle deceased at the scene and another male occupant who was seriously injured. The injured male was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, an adult female, suffered minor injuries and remained at the scene.

After the crash, PPB officers learned that the eluding vehicle had been reported stolen.

The Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team has responded to the scene to investigate. During the investigation Southeast Division will be closed between Southeast 136th Avenue and Southeast 142nd Avenue.
