A man is in jail after officers believe he stabbed another man several times at a local transit center.

On Sunday, July 7th at 9:37AM, officers were dispatched to a disturbance with a weapon at the Tigard Transit Center on SW Commercial Street. Officers learned two men had been fighting and one of them stabbed the other several times, then took off. Responding officers worked to control the victim’s bleeding, and the victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Additional officers worked with witnesses and TriMet to get a description of the suspect. Officers learned he had taken another bus into Sherwood, and he was safely arrested there. He’s been identified as Diego Armando Gonzalez-Hernandez, age 22. He was taken to the Washington County Jail and is facing charges of first-degree assault (a Measure 11 crime), unlawful use of a weapon, harassment, interfering with making a report and an outstanding arrest warrant.

Thankfully, the victim in this case is expected to survive. He is not being identified at this time.
