On Friday July 16, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of an attempted sexual assault of a child in Aloha. The suspect – 24 year old Alejandro Negrete of Portland – has since been arrested and linked to multiple child sexual assault cases during his time as a driver.
According to officials, a parent told deputies that a 9-year-old girl had been playing outside her home when Negrete made a delivery at a neighboring residence. He offered the girl candy and then tried to sexually assault her. She was able to get away and tell a parent what happened while providing a description of the suspect.
Deputies began their search at the home of the victim and the surrounding area. While looking for the suspect, deputies contacted FedEx which immediately provided its full help to find Negrete. The suspect was ultimately found and arrested for attempted sexual assault in the first degree and attempted sodomy in the first degree. He is being held at the Washington County Jail with bail set at $250,000. Additional charges may be filed pending further investigation.
Negrete has been delivering for FedEx for almost a year. Detectives are asking parents along his delivery route of Southwest Portland, Beaverton, Aloha, and Tigard, to speak with their children about any interactions that they might have had with Negrete.
