Last week, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVFR) fire-fighters rescued a 12-year old golden retriever that had fallen into a well in Aloha.

The owner said he believed his dog was chasing a squirrel when the dog ran over a piece of rotted plywood covering the well and fell inside. The owner had searched for the dog for hours, only locating him after his other dogs led him to the shed that the well was located in.

After noticing his dog inside the well, the owner immediately called the fire department for help. When fire fighters arrived on the scene, they used ropes, pulleys and a tripod to lower a fire fighter into the well to rescue the dog.

The dog, named Calvin, was taken to DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital. Calvin has since been released.

Calvin is pulled to safety by TFVR firefighters who rescued him from a well.
