Beaverton Special Election: Ballots are due today

The candidate who wins the special election will serve on Beaverton's City Council for the remainder of the term, which ends in 2022.

Today is the last day to drop off ballots at a Washington County Elections Office in-time for the special election to elect a new Beaverton City Councilor.

The election is being held to fill Mayor Lacey Beaty’s seat after she beat incumbent Denny Doyle in last year’s run for mayor. The candidate who wins the special election will serve as Beaverton City Council Position 1 for the remainder of the term, which ends in 2022.

Jerome Sibayan and Ashley Harmeier-Prigg are both seeking to fill the seat.

Jerome Sibayan is a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel and an active community volunteer in Beaverton. He is endorsed by two of Beaverton’s former mayors, Denny Doyle and Rob Drake. Sibayan is also endorsed by Washington County Sheriff, Pat Garrett, as well as the Beaverton Police Association.

Hartmeier-Prigg is the current board chair for the Tualatin Hills Parks & Recreation District. She is endorsed by Beaverton’s current mayor, Lacey Beaty. Hartmeier-Prigg is also endorsed by the Home Builders Association, as well as the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Only ballot drop boxes located in Beaverton will be in-service for the special election. Ballots must be received by the Washington County Elections Office by 8pm on Tuesday, September 21st.
