The case began on November 17, 2018, when Beaverton Police Officers responded to 12120 SW Allen Blvd. on a report of a suspicious circumstance. Responding officers searched the home and found a deceased female. In January 2019 the female was positively identified as Amy Low.

Ms. Low lived at a residence on Allen Blvd. with Norbeto Muniz and another man. During the investigation, detectives from the Beaverton Police Department identified Norbeto Muniz as a suspect and executed a search warrant of the residence locating several evidentiary items to include DNA.

Last week, on February 4, 2022, a Washington County jury found Norbeto Nestor Muniz Jr. guilty of murder and first degree abuse of a corpse – he burned his roommates body in the backyard.

On May 8, 2019, Norbeto Muniz was arrested with the assistance of the Portland Police Bureau and remained in custody until his trial. Prior to murdering Ms. Low, Norbeto Muniz had been released from prison that same year after serving a 90-month sentence for first-degree robbery, a Measure 11 offense.

On February 8, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. Norberto Muniz was sentenced to 25 years for murdering Ms. Low. He received and additional sentence of 16 months for abuse of a corpse.
