It’s time to tap your feet and sing along during the Beaverton Celebration Parade happening Saturday, Sep. 7 at 10 a.m. This year’s parade theme is “Music Mania,” and a chance for community members to come together as we embrace the universal language of music and dancing.
Expect an exciting procession of more than 60 parade entries representing a diverse array of participants, including community organizations, floats, marching bands, classic cars, businesses, sports teams, dance groups, and much more.
The Beaverton Sun Run will kick off parade festivities at 8:30 a.m. The race is a USATF Certified 5K out-and-back between Schiffler Park and 5th & Maple and is hosted by the Rotary Club of Beaverton and supported by the city.
Parade Route: The parade will kick off at SW Griffith Drive and proceed westbound on 5th Street before turning southbound on Menlo Drive. The parade will end at Menlo Drive and Berthold Street.
Road Closures: To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, the following road closures will be in effect from 8 a.m. until the parade’s conclusion at around noon:
- SW Griffith Dr. will be closed to the public and exclusively available for designated parade entries.
- SW Lombard Ave, SW Hall Blvd, SW Watson Ave, and SW Main Ave will be closed at the intersection of SW 5th Street.
- SW Menlo Dr. from SW Bonnie Brae St. to SW 6th St. will be closed.
- SW Erickson Ave from SW 10th St. to SW 6th St. will be closed.
- SW Berthold Ave from SW Menlo Dr. to SW Erickson Dr. will be closed.
Please note: street parking in these areas is strongly discouraged, and certain locations will be clearly marked as no parking zones with the possibility of towing.
Alternative Routes: For those seeking alternative travel routes during the parade, consider the following options:
- SW Murray Blvd, Hwy 217, and SW Western Ave will be open for northbound and southbound traffic.
- SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy, SW Canyon Rd, and SW Allen Blvd will be open for eastbound and westbound traffic.
Other Impacts: During the parade, the following parking lots will be exclusively used by participants in the parade:
- Calvary Parkside Church (5755 SW Erickson Ave)
- Westside Church of Christ (5525 SW Menlo Dr)
- Schiffler Park will remain open to the public but will serve as the designated parade disbanding area for all entries. Anticipate large crowds and increased traffic in this vicinity.
The Beaverton Celebration Parade began in 1957 and has grown into a community tradition with dozens of festive entries along with local elected officials and featuring a grand marshal.
