On Monday, July 11, 2022 at 8:12a.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store in the 10300 block of Southeast Holgate Boulevard. The officers learned that a suspect had robbed the store at knifepoint. The victim, a clerk, was not harmed, but the suspect used the knife to stab the counter during the robbery. Responding officers were unable to immediately locate the suspect, but they obtained information about the suspect and shared it with other officers.

On Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 9:48a.m., East Precinct officers responded to a report of a threat with a weapon at a gas station in the 6700 block of Southeast Division Street. The suspect had left the scene, but investigating officers learned that the suspect used a knife to threaten two gas station attendants, even swinging the knife at them. They connected the suspect to the previous day’s robbery.

At 12:30p.m., East Precinct officers responded to a bar in the 4900 block of Southeast 82nd Avenue on a report that a man was out in the parking lot jumping on a car and swinging a knife around. Officers recognized the suspect description. Numerous officers and sergeants responded and developed a custody plan. When they challenged the suspect, he started walking toward the officers with a knife in hand. The officers utilized distance and warnings, giving them time to attempt to stop the suspect using a 40mm less-lethal launcher and a Conducted Electrical Weapon. The plan was successful and the suspect was taken into custody. A knife was seized as evidence. After a medical evaluation, he was transported to the Detective Division.

Robbery Detectives booked Vichea Jay Pok, 38, into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Robbery in the First Degree (3 counts), and Attempted Assault in the Second Degree (2 counts).
