Apple Leases in Beaverton

In an office market report, the commercial real estate company Colliers noted that Apple, Inc. has recently leased a 50,000 square foot commercial property. The space is located at 3555 SW 153rd in Beaverton. It is not yet clear how Apple intends on using the site. However, it falls in-line with the company’s ongoing expansion into the Silicon Forest.

Apple has largely abandoned the use of Intel processors in recent years, in favor of the processors that Apple manufactures themselves.

In 2018, Apple opened a hardware engineering lab in Washington county to work on improvements to the chips used in its iPhone and iPad products. At the time, it was reported that Apple had poached employees from Intel’s workforce.

It’s possible that Apple may use this new site to improve upon the company’s microprocessors or to develop them even further.

Apple’s website currently lists 64 openings for semiconductor industry jobs in Beaverton.
