On Friday, September 13, 2024, at 7:35 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a crash at SW Farmington Road and SW 157th Place. Multiple witnesses called to report that a motorcycle was involved in a crash with a vehicle. Deputies arrived at the scene and found that the involved vehicle left after the crash without exchanging information or checking on the motorcycle rider. The rider sustained serious injuries, but was thankfully wearing a helmet, which likely saved her life.
Members of the Washington County Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Team (CART) responded to the scene to lead the investigation. Witnesses told investigators that the vehicle that fled the scene was a dark-colored Scion XB. During the investigation, a family member of the rider realized that her phone was showing as being over a mile away, near SW 170th Avenue and SW Vincent Street. The family member went to that area and found a Scion XB with damage consistent with being in a crash.
Investigators determined the victim’s phone flew into the suspect vehicle during the crash. It was learned that 27-year-old Julian Borjas-Diaz, was driving the Scion XB at the time of the crash. Deputies arrested Borjas-Diaz and lodged him in the Washington County Jail for felony hit-and-run.
If you witnessed the crash and have not yet spoken to investigators, please contact the Sheriff’s Office through non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111.
