The Washington County District Attorney’s Office is partnering with members of the Washington County Family Justice Collaborative to honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Taking place every October, the goal is to support survivors of domestic violence in our communities and to show those currently experiencing family and/or intimate partner violence that help is available.
This year, the Washington County Family Justice Collaborative is hosting the first-annual Run for Hope. This family-friendly 5k walk/run takes place Sunday, October 8th at Hillsboro’s Hare Field. It is open to the public and members of the media are invited to attend. More information and registration information can be found here.
On Wednesday, October 4th, several law enforcement agencies will be hosting Coffee with a Cop events at various locations around Washington County. Community engagement teams will be on hand along with officers to meet with community members and to share information about resources available to those experiencing domestic violence.
Community members are encouraged to participate in Wear Purple Day on Thursday, October 19th. Wear purple to show your support for family and/or intimate partner violence survivors. Take a selfie or group photo and post it to social media using #WashCoWearsPurple!
Throughout October, the Forest Grove Library will be hosting the Voices of Hope Survivor Art Gallery.
