On April 13, 2023, at 9:14 a.m., East Precinct officers were dispatched to the area of Southeast 92nd Avenue and Southeast Steele Street after a city worker was menaced by an individual who had what appeared to be a handgun. Portland’s Special Emergency Reaction Team was activated and responded to the scene.

While SERT activity was ongoing, Southeast 92nd Avenue was closed from Southeast Steel Street to Southeast Raymond Street. The scene of the incident was contained, and there is no active threat to the community.

The suspect in this incident that prompted the activation of SERT and CNT is identified as 33-year-old Nathan Eric Robinson. During his apprehension a K9 Unit was deployed, resulting in a minor injury to Robinson from a dog bite. He is receiving treatment at a local hospital and soon after is expected to be booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center.

Robinson is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm in Public, Menacing, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
