Man who stole car and crashed it into Tualatin river is located, arrested

On March 31, 2022, officers from the Hillsboro Police Department located Jonathan Michael Laura and arrested him on crimes unrelated to the March 30th incident, where Laura is alleged to have stolen a vehicle and crashing it into the Tualatin river.

He was lodged in the Washington County Jail. Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office then also charged Laura with the following charges related to the incident on March 30^th:

• Unlawful use of a motor vehicle
• Possession of a stolen vehicle
• Attempt to elude – felony
• Attempt to elude – misdemeanor
• Reckless driving
• Driving while revoked – misdemeanor
• Reckless endangering
• Criminal mischief in the first degree
