Suspect arrested in Goose Hollow homicide case

On Friday, February 4th, 2022, the US Marshals Service located Josiah Nettles, 22, in Vancouver, Washington. Nettles was wanted in connection with the Murder of DeAndrae Stephens that occurred on December 21st, 2021.

On December 21, 2021, at 12:55 a.m., officers from the Central Precinct responded to a shooting call in the 2000 block of Southwest Morrison Street. When officers arrived they located a male victim who was deceased. 

The man found deceased in the Goose Hollow Neighborhood is identified as DeAndrae D. Stephens, 30, of Portland. The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Officer determined his cause and manner of death to be homicide by gunshot wound. DeAndrae Stephens’ family has been notified, and they provided the attached picture for public release. The family requests privacy as they mourn. 

With the assistance of the Southwest Washington Regional Swat Team, Nettles was safely taken into custody. Portland Police Bureau Homicide Detectives, in partnership with the Clark County Major Crimes Team, executed a search warrant at the location. Nettles was booked into the Clark County Jail and charged with Murder in the Second Degree, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
